Torridge Ramblers
Code of Practice

Code of Practice

Please try to keep up with the leader on walks.

Leaders will wait at junctions to ensure the group stays together.

Safety Note – when on roads, please walk on right-hand side facing the oncoming traffic (unless specifically told to do otherwise by the leader of that day).  Walk Leaders must ensure a first aid kit is available.

Remember to keep hydrated when walking, particularly in warm weather. Always carry sufficient  liquid, even on short walks.

Walks

Please note that the Saturday walks will start at 10.00 am at the meeting place unless stated otherwise.  They will take 4/6 hours and will be at a reasonable pace.  There will be no shorter alternatives.

Members are reminded that if they need transport to a venue they should either telephone the leader or place a message on WhatsApp to see if anyone is able to assist. Try to reduce our carbon footprint and car share wherever possible. Telephone numbers are on the walks programme.

If accepting a lift please offer the driver a contribution towards fuel costs.

ALL MEMBERS WALK AT THEIR OWN RISK

Insurance cover is Third Party; we are affiliated to the Ramblers Association, but please note ALL RAMBLERS ATTEND AT THEIR OWN RISK.  For insurance cover to be valid DOGS must be kept on a 2-metre lead AT ALL TIMES.

PLEASE WEAR APPROPRIATE FOOTWEAR FOR ALL OCCASIONS

Members are reminded that no expenditure should be undertaken without the Committee’s prior approval.

Refreshments

There is no requirement but should a member invite the group back to their house for refreshments after a walk then ramblers are asked to contribute to the cost.
